MILLION MAN INITIATIVE - APRIL, NATIONAL CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH
What is the Million Man Initiative?
Date to be set in April, 2008
First of all, our mission is to raise AWARENESS concerning Child Abuse and Domestic
Violence! There are so many things we can do as individuals, parents, groups and organizations, etc to help bring the
seriousness and realization of Child Abuse and Domestic Violence to the fore-front of our nation's priorities, and the world's
as well.
(Note: Please be patient as I have several volunteers to add to the list as well
as updates.)
We have countless groups and organizations in the US and around the world with basically
the same concepts; my goal is to bring as many of these together as one VOICE for our children. The word "Connection"
in "A Child's Voice Connection" refers exactly to this goal.
What purpose will this serve? We all know there are strength in numbers, and
volume in many voices speaking at once. Thus with many of us joining forces and synchronizing our efforts, communicating
our thoughts and ideas, and support one another, we stand a much greater chance of being heard and seeing action for the protection
or OUR CHILDREN.
There comes a time when we have to say, "enough is enough." And when enough
people come together, setting aside their daily activities for a period of time for a worth-while cause, people begin to listen.
I have had enough of child abductions, abuse, neglect, rapes, murders, etc.
And millions more agree, they have had enough. So we have implemented this strategy to set a specific date, or more
than one day in April, 2008 for a goal of ONE MILLION men and women to pause, hold peaceful rallies, holding signs and banners,
speaking to the media, praying, and raising our voices loud enough to be heard by men and women of all walks of life as to
the statistics and long term psychological effects child abuse imposes on a child, from the time of abuse and throughout life.
We are going to address issues such as a clear definition of what abuse is. What
we expect our lawmakers in congress to do, our parents, our teachers, preachers, etc to do in order to cease the cycle of
abuse, and to change our habits in societies which leave our children vulnerable.
What do we do with our precious jewelry, our gems, gold and items of monetary value?
We buy safes to put them in, install alarm systems, put them in safe-deposit boxes, and going up the scale of financial status'
many invest their money, hire guards, buy guns, and go to great lengths to protect what they consider to be their valuables.
What if we took the same approach towards our children? What does this say about
our society and it's values? What does this say about our priorities? Should we not, with a concerted effort as communities
and a society invest many times more monies, cautions, etc to protect the most precious jewels of all, our children?
We build garages for our cars, alarms for our cars, insurance coverage on our cars,
theft protection devices, GPS systems, etc because we have concluded the value of our automobiles deserves all of the protection
we can provide.
But what about our children? Should we not provide a barrier of protection, gadgets
and expensive devices, constant guarding and GPS systems for our children.
What child does not deserve the very best we can offer? Why do we have children in
the US and abroad who cannot afford a coat in the wintertime, three meals per day, decent health care if any, or a decent
place to live?
Who is ruling this country and the rest of the world? What drives our desires
of lust, greed and sin over protecting the most precious possessions on earth?
The million man initiative will be addressing many of these issues. We just
have to get more than a handful of people to see the significance of the impact our selfish and sinful society has on our
children.
Join us in the fight. I will be adding more volunteers for this initiative
as we go. I have some I need to add. I will try to get this updated asap.
I need representatives from each state in the US, and not just one rep per state.
I need reps from all over the world.
Our Motto:
"ONE ABUSED CHILD IS ONE TOO MANY"
A MULTITUDE OF VOICES CANNOT BE IGNORED!
SPEAK OUT, JOIN US.
April is National
Child Abuse Prevention Month
JOIN THE MILLION MAN/WOMAN INITIATIVE.
April is close by so it would be a good time to really
have people good involved. I am very displeased with my state as they are very far behind in child protection.
The stats here are actually quite low but I think also very inaccurate as father killed his 2 children and yet
the stats for the state had no deaths by child abuse. I think blowing a child brains out constitutes abuse, what
else is it?
National Child
Abuse Prevention Month, 2008 A Proclamation by the President of the United States of America
Our society has a responsibility to protect our children and help them thrive. During National Child Abuse
Prevention Month, we underscore our strong commitment to preventing child abuse and neglect and to ensuring that all children
have the opportunity to grow up in safe and nurturing environments.
Parents hold the primary responsibility for a child's health and well-being and provide a foundation of
love and support for their children. Parents are not alone as they work to keep their children safe. Helping children requires
a commitment from other family members, as well as individuals and organizations in every community. Educators, concerned
citizens, faith-based and community organizations, and public officials all have vital roles in protecting our children and
supporting families.
When children are surrounded by positive relationships and experiences, they are more likely to grow into
confident and caring adults. My Administration remains dedicated to protecting our youth from child abuse and neglect. The
Federal Interagency Workgroup on Child Abuse and Neglect, led by the Department of Health and Human Services, provides a forum
for Federal agencies to share information and make policy and program recommendations regarding the prevention, intervention,
and treatment of child abuse and neglect.
Through the National Child Abuse Prevention Initiative, my administration is partnering with organizations
across our country to promote the well-being of children and families and to assist efforts to eradicate abuse. The
Department of Health and Human Services' Administration for Children and Families hosts the National Clearinghouse on Child
Abuse and Neglect Information website at www.nccanch.acf.hhs.gov, which offers more information on how to prevent, recognize, and report signs of child abuse.
By working together to provide America's young people the love, guidance, and protection they need, we
can help protect our youth from abuse and give them the opportunity to achieve their dreams.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE
W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of
the United States, do hereby proclaim April 2006 as National Child Abuse Prevention Month. I encourage all citizens to protect
our children and help build strong communities where individuals, families, and children are valued and supported.
IN
WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this twenty-ninth day of March, in the year of our Lord two thousand six, and
of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirtieth.
GEORGE W. BUSH
